Apple Blossom Photo Shoot

I recently participated in a beautiful Spring-inspired phoot shoot shot by Emily of Emily Delamater Photography and styled by Sarah of daisies & pearls.  The shoot was held on a beautiful afternoon at Thompson's Orchard in New Gloucester, Maine {just down the road from where I got married!}.  I also loved this shoot because I was able to collaborate with my sister, Jessica, of Nothing Bakes Like a Parrott.  The shoot was featured on Style Me Pretty last week and you may read more about the details on Sarah's blog.

 

The invitations were letterpress printed in matte gold ink then I individually hand-painted each blossom and leaf with watercolor.  I paired the RSVP with a pool blue envelope and used a kraft envelope for the outer envelope. 

A Little Bouquet

I, like Shanon, do not cut flowers from my garden very often, especially the frontyard.  Rich cuts sunflowers, rudbeckia, & the like from our backyard at least once a week, but we tend to leave the zinnias as they grow in the front.  It seems as if it took eternity for them to grow this summer, but they are finally here & quite abundant.  I decided it would be okay to cut a few as a gift to myself because I only turn 27 once.  Indeed, it is my birthday!  It has been a leisurely {& hot!} one complete with waffles for breakfast, a brownie for lunch, playing in the dirt with Simone, & of course a bit of work {lining the back of 100+ invitations & direction cards, phew!}.  Rich says he has a surprise for me & all I know is I should not be "too dressy."  Hmm...we shall see!  Until tomorrow...

We've Been Gardening

By "we" I mean "he."  I just reap all the benefits such as fresh basil, almost-ripe heirloom tomatoes, giant sunflowers, & brightly colored flowers.  The sun just needs to stay out longer than 10 minutes so we can actually enjoy the garden... 

In the Garden

It has been dark & stormy here for a few days {though I think the sun came out yesterday...I cannot even remember}.  But inbetween the clouds our peonies bloomed!  We planted them last year & after much anticipation the frilly pink petals are here.  I look forward to having more & more each year.  There is something about being able to take a few steps into your backyard & having the most beautiful flowers...& then promptly cutting them & bringing them inside!

Happy Weekend

We are in some lilac bliss over here.  Even Simone is taking a moment to sniff the flowers.  I might pop in tomorrow to share some recent letterpress work.  Or I may be too busy sniffing flowers, going here {yay!}, starting some new print jobs, & visiting my mom & family on Sunday.
