I am having the same debate. We are looking for venues that allow us to have an option. I wanted it all outdoors. Tables, dance floor, everything. My family advised against it. As they say here, if you don't like the weather wait five minutes. It's true. So I've compromised. All the tables and such will be in the barn, but we're creating an outdoor seating area with tables and such just outside the barn doors so people can get fresh air and watch the lawn games in comfort.

I had my entire wedding - ceremony and reception - outside with no tent. We used canvas market umbrellas to provide some shade in the early summer afternoon heat, but if you're having an evening reception I think having the entire thing outside would be even more lovely. And you could use the lights outside as well! Max Wanger just photographed a wedding that used these lights to line the reception area, and I've also seen them set up over outside dance floors. And you could always move them inside in case of rain...

where do you buy lights like this?
