Happy March! I am ready for the magnolias to bloom & the robins to begin chirping again. How about you? Back in November I shared a lovely save the date of a wedding to be held under a live oak tree & now I have the wedding invitations to share with you! As you may remember {& now recognize} the save the dates & wedding invitations were illustrated by Jen of Swallowfield. From what I have learned, the magnolia epitomizes the south, specifically South Carolina, where this wedding will be. Jen illustrated the most stunning magnolias & provided me with twenty-plus different versions. It was so difficult to chose to incorporate into the invitation design!
From the very start of the design process Laura, the bride & Jen's future sister-in-law, knew she wanted the magnolias to be blind debossed {letterpress printed with no ink, just the impression} with the text over it. I designed the invitation with two large magnolias in opposite corners & used the same typefaces from their save the dates to keep their wedding stationery design consistent. The invitation was letterpress printed on 100% cotton paper in pearl white in three different inks of springy green, peach, & warm gray.
For the RSVP we decided to incorporate a different colored paper. I found a lovely 100% cotton paper in light green which we also used for the belly band. The RSVP, direction card, & BBQ rehearsal dinner invitation were all gocco screenprinted in the same colors as the invitation. The belly band was letterpress printed in peach ink. The entire suite was paired with a coordinating pearl white envelope.
I feel so fortunate to have developed a wonderfully creative & fun partnership with Jen There is more in store for us in coming months as we begin to work on the invitations from these recent save the dates!
These are beautiful!! I love the peach ink on the magnolias - so perfectly southern. Truly amazing work Sarah!

this is such a cool site. I love the writing. Is that a normal font or is that handwritten? wow. I should visit this site before I get married next year.

Wonderful! Is the design available for purchase by other brides? Please email me. We're getting married in April in Memphis. The theme is Magnolia and Cotton; my fiance's family hails from Magnolia, Arkansas, and I was raised in NE Arkansas cotton country. A magnolia on a cotton invitation would suit the theme perfectly!
