Hello! I have been having "one of those weeks" for the past, ooh, three weeks. I have a queue of ten or so different wedding invitations to share & I just cannot seem to get them here. Or, I get them here & it takes me a week to write something! I love to write, but sometimes I think I would be a better photo blogger. I will admit, I "read" blogs for their pretty pictures, & if I have time, I actually read the words that accompany said pretty pictures. Okay, on to my words...
Today I have a pretty, sea-side inspired suite for a lovely couple getting married on Cape Cod this summer. Lizzy, the bride, wanted to incorporate hydrangea blooms {Cape Cod is famous for their blue, purple, & pink mopheads & even has a society dedicated to the flower} as well as beach-dwelling birds. The suite includes an invitation, RSVP, handkerchief map, & envelopes. Lizzy wanted each piece to have a different shade of green & blue. I thought this was a lovely & unique idea, so I set out creating three distinct, but flowing, shades of green & blue. The invitation featured the hydrangeas & the lightest shades of green & blue. The RSVP featured little sanderlings flying about & has the medium shades. The handkerchief map is my favorite piece & has the darkest shades. The map highlighted the ceremony & reception locations as well as useful bits like where to park & the couple's wedding website. The map was also our chance to sneak in another nautical motif with the compass rose pointing to areas of interest on the Cape.
I also designed & printed an invitation for the couple's send-off party to be held in Boston. Since this was a separate piece, we decided to use a peony on this invitation & a different script typeface, but still printed in shades of green & blue to tie it to the wedding invitation suite.
Each piece was gocco screenprinted in varying shades of green & blue on smooth white 110lb. paper in a recycled stock & paired with 100% recycled brown kraft envelopes. I love how the suite came together & it certainly sets the tone for a summer wedding on the Cape! Lizzy told me she finished the entire suite with fun green & white bakers twine {which I also happened to have on hand & used in these photos}.
can i BEG you to tell me where you got the illustration of the peony??

I love these! Such a fresh and pretty take on classic Cape Cod. Would you mind if I featured them on my blog? www.shoresidebride.blogspot.com
