Happy Weekend! This week I wanted to get a lot more done than I did, but that is the way it goes sometimes. Today I have a very special wedding invitation to share. Beth & I met in elementary school, sometime during kindergarten. We lived one street away from one another, & I remember her being my best friend then. She moved away sometime around first or second grade {forgive me, this was like 20 years ago!}. We stayed in touch, & I remember going to her new house {it had a hot tub!}. I am sure we wrote letters to one another, but slowly lost touch as the years went by. We ran in to each other right before college & then went our ways. Ten years later & though the magic of Facebook, we reconnected after Beth & her fiance, Kelly, were engaged in Iceland! I was so honored & thrilled when Beth asked me to design & letterpress her invitations after all these years!
Beth & Kelly are getting married at the gorgeous Samoset Resortin Rockport, Maine. The resort is located right on the ocean with views of Rockland Harbor & the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. Beth wanted to featured the lighthouse on her invitation so I created a custom illustration of the lighthouse, breakwater, & some of the surroundings including a sailboat & little birds {of course!}. On the RSVP postcard, I included the same sailboat at the bottom & bird at the top, but they were blind debosses {no ink, just impression} which had a lovely effect. We also incorporated the little food icons for the meal choices, along with a description of the actual meal. While I am a vegetarian, everything sounds yummy!
The invitations were letterpress printed in navy blue & peony pink on 100% cotton Lettra paper in white. The envelopes were a coordinating peony pink printed with navy blue ink. Beth told me the envelopes were a big hit with the guests! I love envelopes that add a pop of color to the suite, not to mention a surprise in your guests' mailboxes. Beth also went with the pink because she will {hopefully!} be carrying bright pink peonies in her bouquet. I cannot wait to see her photos!
Happy weekend, all! Rich's sister, Deb & fiancé, Dom, are in town for the weekend, so we will be visiting with them & family. I have a really beautiful letterpress wedding stationery suite to finish up this weekend as well!
You did an amazing job with the invitations.
