I love the start of a new year & never have a hard time saying good-bye to the year that has passed, but I was a bit sad to see 2010 go. So many amazing things happened! Two major events occured in my life. 1. I quit my day job in June & fully dedicated myself to my studio; & 2. We got married!!
Most of our free time in 2010 was dedicated to planning our wedding, but still managed to squeeze in a few trips including a glorious week spent in Ithca, NY, a few weekends in Vermont, as well as many trips to Maine & Massachusetts. The biggest trip of our year being our honeymoon to Athens & Santorini Greece.
Other highlights included participating in my first bridal show with my sister, Jessica, a suprirse trip to the Museum of Printing, planned by Rich, my beautiful bridal shower planned by my sister, mom, cousin, & bridesmaids, & my parents launched their new business, Parrott's Photo Booth Company {more details to come on this!}.
It was also a big year for my studio. As I mentioned, I quit my day job working in marketing & event planning at a local non-profit, where I had been for five years, to finally dedicate myself fulltime to my studio. It was the second best decision I made in 2010...the first being to marry Rich, of course!
Instead of just saying "2011 will be even better. Yay!" I would like to set out a few goals including expanding my stationery shop & adding more paper goods, debut my ready-made line of letterpress wedding invitations, continue honing the art of letterpress & improving my skills, continue collaborating with illustrators, calligraphers, photographers, wedding planners, florists, bakers, & anyone else who wants to work with me, take a calligraphy class, draw more like I used to, take more photos of things other than invitations, paper goods, & my dogs, & get our house fully remodeled, decorated, & ready for our first Thanksgiving!
Farewell 2010. You have shown me how lucky & blessed I am to be surrounded by such a wonderful husband, parents, sister & brother-in-law, my new in-laws, my new sister & brother-in-law, family, friends, & the wonderful creative community. I hope 2010 was a good one for you & 2011 brings even more goodness. Thank you for visiting my little space in the world. I look forward to being here in 2011!
