I recently had the great honor to work with the ever-talented Leslie of A Creative Mint. Do you read her blog or follow her monthly column Color Me Pretty on decor8? If not, they are both *must* reads. Both are filled with gorgeously styled photographs {Leslie does both!}. Before Leslie & I even "met" my inspiration files were full of her photos!
For her business cards, Leslie was looking for a double-sided design on thick paper featuring a pretty bloom. She went with one my favorite flowers - a peony. I added the little bee & then Leslie suggested incorporating calligraphy. She fell in love with Li Ward of Fat Orange Cat Studio's style so we commissioned her to do a little calligraphy for us.
The cards were letterpress printed in two luscious colors - coral pink & a softer, but stil bright, pink - on super-thick 236 lb. 100% cotton paper. I printed 500 cards, each one going through the press four times...that is 2,000 passes through the press! I got the cards printed just in time for Leslie to arrive in London for Holly Becker's book launch at the Liberty of London. I so wish I could be there!
Below are a few behind the scenes shots I took while printing Leslie's cards:
My ever-present studio companion, Simone. You may check out a few more, admittedly prettier, photos of Leslie's cards on Li's blog.
Love these! A beautiful choice of colors and having the design on the back makes it extra special - so pretty!
