I had the great pleasure of working with Courtney Spencer of Merriment Events and bride, Cailin, on some lovely invitations and day-of stationery for a wedding in Colonial Williamsburg this past Spring.. We worked closesly with Jen Maton of If So Inklined for all of the calligraphy, from the invitation suite all the way to the smallest sign at the wedding reception.
The wedding invitation suite included the invitation, reply card, reception card, and a post-wedding brunch invitation. Each piece was letterpress printed in navy blue on 100% cotton pearl white paper. They were tied with blue and white bakers twine and tucked inside a custom-lined inner envelope, which was then placed in a larger outer envelope, sealed with a wax seal and addressed by Jen. We use the fun apple postage stamps from the USPS which added another vintage touch to the suite.
I created a custom logo for the bride and groom to use throughout their wedding. We used it on the save the dates and guest welcome bags. Then I created different variations to be used on other pieces like custom tumbler glasses for each guest and muslin bags full of Virginia peanuts.
I also created a Quaker-style marriage certificate for each guest to sign after the ceremony.
Courtney created a beautiful escort card board with cards calligraphed by Jen. I created the banner at the top and Jen did the calligraphy on that as well.
Each place setting had a menu designed by me with calligraphy from Jen. I incorporated the flowers we had used in the invitation envelope liner and in the couple's wedding logo.
You may see a few more details from the wedding on Courtney's blog as well.
