Valentine's Day is just about a month away! Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? I have always been a believer that the day is not just for people who are dating, enaged, or married but a day to send a sweet card to your grandparents or to give a little box of homemade sweets to your best friend. It is a fun excuse to bake brownies and bust out the glitter and construction paper hearts! Or to send a lovely little letterpress card, of course! There are a whole bunch in the shop perfect for Valentine's Day or any day you want to send a little extra love.
In other stationery-related news, Parrott Design Studio now has a wholesale catalog with a simple and lovely collection of letterpress greeting cards available to shops {both brick and mortar and online}, and we are adding more designs each week. You may check out the online catalog below, and if you are interested in more information or placing an order, email me at sarah(at)parrottdesignstudio.com. There is a quick turnaround for shipping right now to ensure those Valentine's Day cards arrive in time!

Happy New Year! I thought I would start 2012 off with the holiday cards I sent out for the studio. I really wanted the cards to reflect the design aesthetic I embrace - simple and lovely - and the things I love - letterpress, bright and shimmering colors, border painting, a fun envelope liner, calligraphy, and of course, vintage stamps.
Cards were letterpress printed in bright pink and persimmon inks on 140 lb. cotton paper. Cards were then hand-bordered in shimmery gold ink. I lined each moss green envelope in a bright and cheery paper that added more color and shine to the whole package.
Each envelope was calligraphed by Grace Edmands then completed with vintage holiday stamps from my collection. I love how these came out...and I love that I got them out before the new year!

Sweet relief! Parrott Design Studio's new website is freeee! I do not think you ever set out believing a project like a website redesign will take a year to complete, but it really does. This time last year I developed the new concept and design for my site and last night around 1:00 am my friend and genius website designer/coder emailed saying it was live.
A new website means a new collection. Yes!! I selected a few of my favorite and most popular designs, refined them and put them in a new collection. I also created a few new designs. As a ready-to-order collection the price-points are lower than custom design and printing! I have to thank Li Ward of Fat Orange Cat Studio for spending an entire day photographing the new collection for me. I think she has been waiting for this site as long as I have!
I also updated my custom wedding design section with new photos and a few new designs. This section will, of course, be ever-expanding, but now I feel the work in there finally reflects what I have been doing and what I want to do. I have loved all of the invitations I have designed and printed in the last four years, but many of them were so different from what I do now.
And, alas, the ever-loved gocco printing section is gone. It has been almost two years since my last gocco invitation {two years!?} and I still had it on my webite. Talk about woefully outdated to the point where I could not even look at it anymore. But now I love it! I am still making a few updates {adding some photos to the Collection section, adding some more copy to the About section, including some ever-important site credits}, but for the most part, it is done.
Blog posts will slow down a bit over the next couple of weeks but once 2012 starts I will be sharing details on the collection designs as well as more custom invitations I worked on in 2011.
P.S. If you read the blog through a reader, etc. then you may not have seen our new header! The lovely Grace Edmands provided us with some pretty new calligraphy.

From assembling invitation suites to edge painting, tea-dying paper doilies to lining envelopes, & a lot of letterpress in between, it has been a busy, busy summer around Parrott Design Studio.
